Is China a credible champion of globalisation?

-How will the perceived increase in economic nationalism in the US and Europe affect China. Any implications of “the New Normal" to companies trading with and investing in China?
- China is increasing its presence in the global arena. Hosting G20 meeting in 2016, Xi Jinping giving keynote speach in WEF in Davos. What opportunities may initiatives such as AIIB and Belt & Road Project open up for investors?
- Is China itself open enough to assume the role of champion on globalization?

Global/Distributed Economy: Challenging the Stock Exchange and Investing Traditions

- Investing in growth and accessing liquidity has always been a game for a privileged few.
- Today, we're witnessing companies and nations whose aim is to move closer to a global/distributed one-world economy.
- With these ambitions, the traditional way stock exchanges, investors, and banks operate are being challenged- both by companies and the overall populous.
Description
Kaidi Ruusalepp
Founder & CEO of Funderbeam At the age of 20, Kaidi was the only IT lawyer in Estonia. It was the mid-1990s, and Estonia had only recently regained its independence when she was hired by the Prime Minister’s office to co-write the country’s Digital Signatures Act – one of the first in the world. From there, Kaidi’s journey took her to the Estonian Central Securities Depository to build up a funded pension platform and then as the executive chair at the NASDAQ Tallinn Stock Exchange.

After 12 years working in the trading, clearing, and settlement industry, Kaidi decided to give entrepreneurship a shot. At the time, she thought to herself, “If I don’t do it now, I will regret it for the rest of my life.”

New Tech, New Costs, New regulation, New Players – perspectives on future of banking

The days of closed off silo banks are quickly coming to an end. New technologies and regulations are creating perfect conditions for a highly competitive and diverse market for financial services. Which strategies and business models will prove most successful? Will the platform bank with a spectre of third-party applications see the light of day in 2017? And how are those APIs coming along? How should we expect emerging technologies like e.g. AI and blockchain will help transform the financial industry?

The relationship between big and small, old and young, full-spectre and niche has never been more important. How are banks and fintechs joining forces, leveraging each other’s strengths and forging true power couples for the benefit of customers?

Ewan MacLeod is a Chief Digital Officer co-heading Group Digital in Nordea. He was previously responsible for the Retail digital transformation programme at Royal Bank of Scotland, and is an experienced entrepreneur, programmer and blogger.

Lars Christensen is a distinctive voice among monetary and emerging market economists, and is a sought-after speaker to multinational companies and financial institutions. With a M.A. in economics from the University of Copenhagen, Lars made his name with a series of outside-the- box analyses as the Head of Emerging Markets Research at Danske Bank in Copenhagen. In 2006-2008, he warned of an impending economic downturn in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Market Monetarist, which Lars began writing in 2011, has become one of the leading international blogs on monetary policy. Market Monetarists (like Lars) want central banks to target nominal gross domestic product (NGDP), not inflation.

The economist view to financial sector – Post-Brexit, post-Trump and on the EU level
- Finally recovery?
- Post Brexit, Post Trump impact on the financial market

Lars Christensen
International Economist

Lars Christensen is a distinctive voice among monetary and emerging market economists, and is a sought-after speaker to multinational companies and financial institutions. He has accumulated more than 20 years’ experience in the public sector and in banking before founding his own consultancy, Markets and Money Advisory.
With a M.A. in economics from the University of Copenhagen, Lars made his name with a series of outside-the- box analyses as the Head of Emerging Markets Research at Danske Bank in Copenhagen.
